Single set of keys: Limited key access made us feel like contestants on a reality show, always strategizing who would be the first to return and unlock the door.

During my recent trip to Lucca, I had the pleasure of staying at San Carlo Apartment. As a frequent traveler, I have come across numerous hotels, but the convenience of this particular one truly stood out. Located just 36 km away from the nearest airport, it made my transit extremely smooth and hassle-free. This feature was particularly important for me, as I was on a tight schedule and needed everything to be as efficient as possible. From the moment I arrived at the airport until I checked into San Carlo, the proximity made my travel experience extremely convenient.

The lack of a 24-hour front desk service was noticed.

The apartment was in the heart of the city, making it convenient to explore Lucca's charming streets and enjoy the wonderful food. The location was also very quiet, ensuring a peaceful stay. The apartment itself was clean, spacious, and nicely decorated, providing a comfortable place to rest after a day of sightseeing. The manager was helpful and ensured that everything, from the internet to the air conditioning, was in working order.

There was some difficulty in communicating the arrival time and accessing the apartment.

The location of this apartment was absolutely fabulous. Tucked away in a beautiful courtyard, it provided a peaceful sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The nearby restaurant added to the lovely atmosphere with its gentle murmur. It was just a short walk to the main squares, making it incredibly convenient. The apartment itself was well-appointed and the beds were incredibly comfortable. I highly recommend this apartment for a delightful stay in Lucca.

While the apartment was equipped with air conditioning, it would have been even more ideal if the second bedroom had its own unit. During our stay, it was particularly hot and the air conditioning from the living room struggled to adequately cool the second bedroom.

Not obvious to find

The apartment was mind-blowingly clean and spacious, with a super helpful manager who set up wi-fi, TV, and A/C. She even walked us to the nearest supermarket to get coffee and milk. The location was jaw-droppingly perfect, with great restaurants like Pasqualino's right outside the door. Lucca is one of the most charming cities in Italy, with a great wall for daily walks and fantastic food. It's also conveniently close to the train station and a 15-minute bus ride to Pisa and Viareggio. The apartment was wonderfully decorated, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The host was always available to answer questions.
